The inspiration behind Northern Rye No. 03 comes from Northern Michigan’s celebrated cherry harvest. This release captures the essence of the cherry tree, using late-spring cherry blossoms, seasoned cherry wood, and barrels from Mammoth’s own cherry brandy. The delicate floral notes from the blossoms, combined with the rich, fruity depth imparted by cherry wood and brandy casks, create a whiskey that balances elegance, sweetness, and mature rye complexity. Northern Rye No. 03 continues our exploration of terroir and craftsmanship, blending innovation with a deep connection to the land.
What's In This Bottle?
Northern Rye No. 03 contains a blend of 18% straight Michigan Wheeler rye aged in first-use Missouri oak barrels, 29% 19-year Alberta rye aged in second- and third-use oak barrels, 20% 15-year Alberta rye aged on cherry wood staves, and various smaller fractions of 16, 17, and 18-year Alberta rye aged in cherry brandy barrels, steeped in cherry blossoms, or finished in various French and American oak barrels.
