ROSEN RYE UPDATE
Fall 2023
The agriculture team spent last week on S. Manitou Island and report that this year’s planting was a huge success.
Between the hard work of the three-man team and the luck of some picture-perfect weather, the Beck Farm was completely seeded, the Hutzler Farm was tidied up to remain fallow, and the equipment that will stay on the island was winterized. To quote Lead Agronomist Doug, “everything went perfectly smoothly with the exception of a flat tire on the wagon. We even got some good sleep and one shower.”
Off the island, the cycle of island seed farm to mainland planting continues with our partner growers, including C3 Seeds and Farm who also completed their fall Rosen planting.
